Over the years, the UPM Griffin has become a recognizable, iconic symbol for UPM and a staple of the brand's visual identity, thanks to its consistent use. The Griffin has decorated UPM advertisements, as well as marketing and communications materials, for decades. On UPM products, the logo is often seen as an assurance of reliability and high quality.
The company logo is the primary corporate symbol and a continuously visible element in our communications. We are moving away from all supplementary versions of logo and embracing our heritage logo as the one and only to be used.

The UPM logo
Clear space
We take great pride in our logo and care about its clarity and impact. To keep it looking its best, always leave space around it, free from other graphics, text, or imagery. This helps maintain its distinctiveness and ensures it stays legible, even in a cluttered environment.
The clear space allows the logo to stand out and create a strong visual impact. Never recreate the logo on your own. Use the link below to download official UPM logo files.
Minimum size
Ensure logo legibility by never using it smaller than specified here. When there's no sufficient space for full UPM logo, or it cannot be used in the minimun size, write UPM using Mona Sans SemiBold, in uppercase.
Logo colorways
To maintain clarity and simplicity, we use the UPM logo only in two color versions: full-color and white. Do not use other colors for the logo, even those from the brand color palette. Full-color can be placed on light backgrounds or images with sufficient contrast, and the white logo on dark backgrounds or images.
The background for the UPM logo should be in a solid light or dark color. The background images must have an even-toned surface behind the logo and its exclusion zone. Always ensure sufficient contrast between the logo and the background for maximum visual impact and legibility.
Black logo exception: when full-color is not possible e.g. on printed documentation, product packaging, clothing, merchandise, or when using thermal printers, it is allowed to use it in black on a white background.

Logo positioning
The logo can be positioned either at the top or bottom right corner of your workspace, depending on which placement works best for the design's overall balance and visual impact. The defined clear space around the logo aligns with the margin, ensuring a consistent and balanced layout. Always respect the clear space and avoid placing any elements within it.
Case 1: Rectangular formats
How to define the right size for the logo:
- Divide longer side by 24. Set the margin (A) as
1/24 of the longer edge of the rectangle workspace. - Determine the height of the logo as twice the margin
(2A). Place it in the upper right or lower right corner.
Learn more by visiting the Layout section.
Case 2: Square formats
The exception to the 24 grid is a workspace with
an aspect ratio of 1:1. When working with a square,
set the margins to 1/16 of the edge. The height of
the logo is still twice the margin.
